Elon Musk became the first person to cross the trillionaire threshold after the SpaceX stock price soared in its initial public offering.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk said he gave the company "less than a 10% chance of succeeding at all" when it first started, and it is now going public "with the largest IPO ever".

The shares began trading at 10:47 a.m. Central at $150, topping the $135 IPO price but below earlier targets. Still, it pushed Musk over the $1 trillion mark.
